In order to create the most beautiful quilt, go through the following checklist to prepare your quilt and backing for the longarm. This is simply a guide. These are not requirements. I am not the quilt police. I do not expect perfection. These are just guidelines to help you.
Quilt Top
Quilt Top and Backing should not be sandwiched together. Each should be individually folded.
Again, I am not the quilt police. While I do ask that you try to follow these guideline, I will work with you to create a beautiful, finished quilt. I want you to enjoy the quilting process. Please do not get caught up in trying for perfection.
Quilt Top
- Trim and remove all basting and loose threads
- Pressed flat - you can starch the top if you would like
- Squared: to check to see if your quilt top is squared, you can fold it into quarters; the edges should line up
- No open seams (This is important) Double check to make sure all of your seams are stitched closed
- No wavy borders
- All seams are pressed flat the way you would like them to lay
- Mark the top of the quilt with a safety pin
- All selvages trimmed
- Well-pressed
- Square
- Mark the top with a safety pin
- At least 10 inches longer and wider than your quilt top. This is a requirement in order for your quilt to be properly loaded on the longarm
